A few weeks ago, I’m having drinks with a designer I’ve been working with for Rally De Los Muertos. While we’re talking shop, he lets me know that the design house: McGarrah Jessee is working on the artwork for his upcoming album (Blackbird Sing) due sometime soon.

I was familiar with the design house because of their work with Whataburger (burger chain) and my desire to have a Ketchup Mouse Pad from their website for like 5 years.

I decide to visit the site last week and I learned that they no longer have the mouse pad I want. I write them, hear nothing and then receive this awesome care package.

Both, Elliot and Amos are back so I’m getting used to the grind of getting up freakishly early to walk him before I get my daily routine started. I’m also getting back into the grind of getting out of the office at a reasonable time to walk E and in turn, getting used to working from home to stay on top of things at the end of the day.

I tried to set some time aside this evening to read a comic book I picked up a few months ago at Comic Con, but as soon as I pulled the 7” out, I noticed that the artwork looked a lot like the sleeve art of a Look Mexico 7” in my record collection.

Sure enough… the artwork was Mitch Clem.

I had planned to take Elliot to the park but I opted to swing by her place since I didn’t see her over the weekend.

As luck would have it… she just got a baby stroller/baby car seat - all-in-one thing. Yours truly had the privilege of slapping it together while my pregnant sister peppered me with insults.

Tough love, that’s how my love goes.

There’s been talk of storm brewing so we’re going to get some hurricane prevention measures started in the event my parents have to come up to San Antonio later in the week.

While getting stuff ready around the house, I got to chat up my uncle Chuta who came by to also lend a hand. I haven’t talked to him in ages, but it didn’t take long for him to open up the trunk of his Dodge so he could showcase his odd collection of tools/weapons.

My favorite was this insane switch blade machete.

I can’t remember the last time I made it down to the RGV, but on my way in I noticed a number of new things around town (off the freeway).

One of the nice things about coming back home is getting to relax in the bedroom I grew up in. The room has changed completely since I was 17, but its relaxing nonetheless.

Another nice thing is getting to work on my old iMac. A number of functions are pretty sluggish, but she still allows my parents to do the things they need to do online 10 years after I purchased it in Detroit.

We’re both movie buffs so it was hard finding a movie that we both hadn’t seen… Magic Mike, a Steven Soderbergh movie - was are only hope.

The movie by the way is horrid. Lots of terrible acting and bizarre cameos… that turned into actual acting spots.
