2012

Just before I started to prep the kitchen for dinner I saw that FX was airing 2012 this evening.  I saw 2012 a couple of years ago but I’m interested to see how many times I see it get aired or screened this calendar year.

I’m also an unapologetic fan of John Cusack so I decided to give it another viewing and enjoy catching a lot of the things I may have missed the first time around.

All in all the movie is pretty shift, but it also has another favorite actor of mine Oliver Platt, who for some reason has been in a lot of movies with John Cusack.

Perhaps with Cusack and Piven break up, my boy Platt was able to come in and pick up the slack.

The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with someone else when you’re uncool.

Lester Bangs

Gossford Park

1.) I can’t believe that this film is a decade old.
2.) The ensemble cast is quite amazing…

That said, the murder mystery plays out a little slowly and the humor is a little to dry for my taste.

Spinal Tap

Due largely in part to seeing Michael McKean on Happy Endings this week, I decided to throw in Spinal Tap into my viewing schedule.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen the theatrical cut of the movie…  I always manage to catch a part or two when its on VH1 or other cable channels but they cut out a number of my favorite parts.

I find it amazing that they captured so many “truths” in a Mockumentary with a fictional touring rock band.

Cherry

Every now and again I’ll watch a movie that get’s recommended to me by Netflix…  said movie happened to be Cherry, a film about a college kid who falls for an older lady and her 14 year old daughter falls for him.

Virginity seems to be a lot more difficult to lose on film than in life for some reason…
