Bakery Lorraine

Penned this review for YELP

After reading numerous endorsements online and receiving this tweet from @TheMontereySA  ”If you don’t buy &  eat their stuff, you’re a loser”

I decided to make it out to the Quarry Market this past Sunday to sample my first Bakery Lorraine good.

I arrived a little late but managed to buy one of the last goods they were offering, a small box Milk Cereal Macaroons.

The macaroons were completely worth the price of admission.  I immediately tore into them and shared them with friends who made it out to the market with me and we all agreed that it would be something to pick up again on a future visit.

Another highlight of the cookie was the decorative box it came in.  A sliding heavy paper stock box with a terrific serif font that simply read “cereal”.   I mention this only because it made an actual difference in determining what I wanted to purchase that morning.

50/50

Right behind the movie DRIVE , 50/50 may have been the only other movie I wanted to see in theaters when it was being screened last summer.

The movie was both enlightening and distracting enough to keep my mind off of other things going on with my family.

Cancer claimed the life of my Uncle Ramon a few years ago but he lived on the other side of the world so I didn’t really see how it affected him and his immediate family.

It was my mother’s brother and I recall her saying how devastating it was to look stare into its beady black heartless fucking eyes.

50/50 in short is about a guy who has a 50% survival rate for a rare form of back cancer.  Along the way, he discovers who really loves him and what he really loves.

It’s heartwarming all the way through and recommend watching it for both the laughs and moments of the film that will give you pause to introspectively reexamine your “life”.

Fuck Cancer.

What's your Number?

I may be alone here but after seeing the House Bunny a few years ago, I can pretty much watch anything staring Anna Faris when it ends up on DVD.

What’s your Number? - didn’t bring the laughs that the House Bunny did, but it was a fun rom-com to sit thru.

There’s enough bra n’ panties to get you through viewing if you’re not sure wether to watch it or not.

Fright Night (2011)

Fright Night (the Original 1985) has always had a soft spot in my heart…   Along with the LOST BOYS and Once Bitten - it was an 80’s vampire movie that was great to see when it was on cable tv.

When I read that it was going to get remade, I sorta cringed at first, but I kept an open mind about seeing it.

———-

The film is a total reboot of the original.  The storyline is sorta similar in that - the neighbor (Colin Farrell) is the vampire, but he’s a total cheese dick.

Peter Vincent is a little cooler in this remake.. they somehow got the guy who played Dr. Who (David Tennant) and he was really fun to watch.
