Saw a little documentary about the fall of independent record stores today… The documentary is a little outdated in that it was released around 2007 so a lot of things have changed since then.
One thing that hasn’t changed is the challenging landscape that independent record stores operate in.
In the city of San Antonio, we’re down to only one independent record store that goes by the name of Hog Wild Records…
In the 5 years I’ve been here I’ve seen a handful of record stores come and go and that’s a terrible shame.
Going to Austin for records is now my only escape…
But I digress… the documentary is an ok viewing. I was happy to see Thurston Moore, Ian Mackaye and Mike Watt in it.
I also saw a few record stores around the country that I’ve had the privilege of stepping into.
