Episode 6 of Captain Cortez & the Tri Lambda Brigade

Managed to secure a ticket for this weekend’s Sold Out performance of Captain Cortez and the Tri Lambda Brigade’s season finale and left the theater looking insanely forward to the start of Season 2 next November….

I stumbled upon the Sci-Fi play by total accident last month when I thought I was going to attend an evening of Improv with my friend Chivo.  I ended up catching episode 5 and getting sucked into a live action sci-fi soap opera.

Episode 6 *Spoilers*

Started off with both the Lightning Barron and Capt. Cortez attempting to travel past the edge of space in hopes of finding a special engine that will allow someone to travel thru space in stupid hyper-drive.

The time spent on set design for the 3 day weekend showing - was completely unreal.  Unlike the previous episode where the stage backdrop wasn’t altered due to the Decorator’s (another play that was being performed there) residency, the audience had to use a great deal of imagination to see - 2 separate space crafts, a pirate ship and headquarters for the Tri-Lambda Brigade.

Episode 6 - cleverly used 4 (i think) interchangeable backdrops that made the immersion into their world so much more enjoyable.  There’s also something very spot on about the casting of the show….  It’s hard to describe but this troop may be putting together one of the best original scripted shows in central texas.

Peep the opening credits below - that appear as an opening crawl for every performance.
