Spurs kicked off their 4 game home stand against the Jazz last night and won by 37 points. They've improved their home record to 13-0 and only trail the best record in the NBA by 4 games. If that wasn't tasty enough... the Spurs have won 9 games by 20 points or more.
So yeah... the Spurs are pretty dope and I'm glad I'm taking a lot of time in watching their games this season. I'm still of the opinion that they make a lot happen by simply wanting it more in December games that other teams do.
The Jazz just played their 5th game in 7 days and are coming off a back to back. They basically had no chance of beating the Spurs who have managed their team minutes masterfully and are benefiting from mixing and matching their lineups across all three lines so that they can perform effectively in the Playoffs.
So... I say all this and I can't help but feel that the Spurs are kinda beatable. I don't think they will match up well against teams with stellar front courts (OKC/Golden State) and I don't think they will play very well against teams who are defensively sound like Cleveland and Chicago.
3 games over .500 on the road is the biggest blemish on their resume right now and there's always a chance of a devastating injury to their kinda limited offense.
I can't help but watch the spurs and wonder what they could do to improve themselves and I can't shake the feeling that Danny Green may be involved in a trade of some kind to help them get over a hump.
Ballers of the Night
- Kawhi - 22 points, 7 boards and 6 for 6 from the free throw line
- LaMarcus - 18 points and 6-10 from the field... i love that he's finding his 12 to 18 ft spots on the court - allowing driving guards to kick out to him for his specialized shot. This is vital for the playoffs - no one has a team designed to take advantage of this like the Spurs.
- Parker - 18 points, 7 of 9 from the field in 21 minutes.
