Somewhere downtown in Albuquerque New Mexico, you can take Route 66 and end up on a bridge that allows you to cross and take in the Rio Grande river. I wanted to check this out because I recall reading an article last year that the river had run completely dry over the Summer. When i got to the river banks, I saw flowing water but I also saw that it was suspiciously low. Going to assume the water flowing thru ABQ is from snow that has come down in Colorado. I admittedly don’t know much about where the Rio Grande starts, I’m a lot more familiar with where it ends in the Rio Grand Valley.
As I crossed the river, I thought long and hard about how life on both sides of the embankment is different than the one where I grew up. It made me think about how arbitrary it all is, borders that separate two countries. Thousands of communities that have existed long before this was America. How I just happened to be born a few miles north east of the river and how my life has benefited from that roll of the dice.
While I did all that I looked up and saw a triangle in the sky. I didn’t really dwell on how it was created but I wanted to make sure i took a photo of it to confirm what I was seeing.
i’m not going to suggest it was a sign from above. I wouldn’t really know what affirmation something like that would provide, but I did however pocket it in my mental notes for reflection.
