When I pulled out the 40 or so albums I purchased in 2015... I immediately set this record aside and considered it my #11 record of the year. Time didn't permit me to put together a top 20 list, so I then put this atop my list of Honorable Mentions.
I then got around the analyzing what albums I listen to the most in 2015 and SSLYBY's The High Country ranked within my top 5 most listened to albums this year. I debated putting this album into my top 5 but couldn't see myself moving anyone above it into the #6 slot.
I purchased this record just after it came out while I was out on assignment in Seattle. There's tracks on the album that reminded me of the band GIRLS, Weezer and the Strokes.... It's a personal fave that I may look back on in 10 years and wonder why I didn't fit in the Weeknd into best of list.
You can't argue with statistics amigos. It also doesn't hurt to have a track on your album that features the name of your niece on it...
